Goal Calculator
Work backwards: how much to invest every month to hit a target.
Year-by-year breakdown
The best free goal planning calculator for India and the US
This free online goal calculator answers the planning question directly: to have a target amount in N years at an expected return, how much do you need to invest every month? It counts existing savings (they compound too, so they shrink the required SIP), and it treats the target as today's money: with inflation on, a Rs 1 crore goal 15 years out is automatically grown to its nominal future cost before solving. No sign-up, works in INR and USD.
The detail almost every goal planner misses: if you will pay capital gains tax when you redeem, a corpus equal to your goal is not enough. With tax on, this calculator grosses the corpus up (iteratively, splitting installments long and short term by holding period) so the goal survives the exit tax.
Worked example
To reach Rs 1 crore in 15 years at a 12% return, you need about Rs 20,000 a month. But Rs 1 crore in 15 years is worth only about Rs 48 lakh in today's money at 5% inflation; to have Rs 1 crore of today's purchasing power you need closer to Rs 41,000 a month. Hisaab does that adjustment for you.
| Target (today's money) | Years | Return | Monthly SIP needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 50 lakh | 10 | 12% | ~Rs 36,000 |
| Rs 1 crore | 15 | 12% | ~Rs 41,000 |
| Rs 2 crore | 20 | 12% | ~Rs 53,000 |
Why use Hisaab's goal calculator
It is a goal planner that tells the truth: it inflates your target to its real future cost, credits your existing savings, and grosses up for the tax you will pay on exit, so the monthly SIP it gives you actually lands on the goal. Free, no sign-up, for both India and the US.
Already know your monthly amount and want the forward projection? That is the SIP calculator. Want to sanity-check the inflated cost of the goal itself? See the inflation calculator.

Frequently asked questions
How much should I invest monthly to reach 1 crore in 15 years?
At a 12% annual return, about Rs 20,000 a month reaches Rs 1 crore in 15 years. But Rs 1 crore in 15 years is worth about Rs 48 lakh in today's money at 5% inflation; to have 1 crore of today's purchasing power you need roughly Rs 41,000 a month. This calculator does that inflation adjustment automatically.
Do my existing savings reduce the required SIP?
Yes. Existing savings are compounded to the goal date first, and the monthly SIP only needs to cover the gap. Enough existing savings can bring the required SIP to zero.
Why does the plan build more than my target when tax is on?
Because redeeming the corpus triggers capital gains tax. The calculator grosses the corpus up so that after LTCG/STCG (split automatically by holding period) you are left with the full goal amount, and shows the cushion separately.
Is this goal calculator free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up or ads, and works for both India (INR) and the US (USD).
