The best free SIP calculator for India and the US

Hisaab is a free online SIP calculator that projects what a monthly systematic investment plan grows into, with three things most SIP calculators skip: an optional starting amount, an annual step-up (raising your SIP as your income grows), and the honest part, inflation and capital gains tax. The tax slice is drawn into the chart, so the number you see is the number you keep. No sign-up, no ads, and it works for both Indian rupee (INR) and US dollar (USD) investors.

The math: contributions compound monthly at your expected annual return divided by 12, invested at the start of each month (annuity due). With tax on, every installment is aged individually (FIFO), so installments from the final 12 months before redemption are taxed short-term and everything older long-term. Defaults are current for FY 2026-27: India equity LTCG 12.5% above the Rs 1.25 lakh yearly exemption and STCG 20%; US federal LTCG 15% and STCG at a 22% ordinary bracket. Every rate is editable.

Worked example

A Rs 10,000 monthly SIP for 15 years at a 12% expected return grows to about Rs 50 lakh, of which roughly Rs 18 lakh is your own money and the rest is growth. After 5% inflation that corpus is worth about Rs 24 lakh in today's purchasing power, and after Indian LTCG tax you keep a little less. The chart shows all of these layers at once.

Why Hisaab is one of the best SIP calculators

Most SIP return calculators stop at a single nominal number. Hisaab is built for honest planning: it shows the step-up effect, the inflation-adjusted real value, and the LTCG/STCG tax in one chart, for both India and the US, free and without sign-up. That mix of precision and clarity is what makes it a genuinely useful best SIP calculator for first-time and experienced investors alike.

Frequently asked questions

How is SIP return calculated?

Each monthly contribution compounds at the expected annual return divided by 12, invested at the start of the month (annuity due). The future value is the sum of all installments grown to the end date, plus any one-time starting amount compounded for the full period.

What is a step-up SIP?

A step-up (or top-up) SIP increases your monthly contribution by a fixed percentage every year, usually matching salary growth. Even a 10% annual step-up can roughly double the final corpus over 15 to 20 years compared with a flat SIP.

How is capital gains tax on a SIP redemption calculated?

Each SIP installment has its own holding period (FIFO). When you redeem everything, installments held over 12 months are taxed as long-term gains (India: 12.5% above the Rs 1.25 lakh yearly exemption; US: 15% federal default) and installments from the final 12 months are taxed short-term (India: 20%; US: ordinary income, 22% default). This calculator does that split automatically.

Is the SIP result shown before or after inflation?

Both. The headline future value is nominal. Turn on the inflation toggle and a dashed line shows the value in today's purchasing power, using a default of about 5% for India and 3% for the US, both editable.

How does a step-up SIP calculator with inflation work?

Set your monthly amount and an annual step-up percentage, then turn on inflation. The calculator raises each year's contribution by the step-up, compounds the whole stream monthly, and overlays a dashed line showing the corpus in today's purchasing power, so you see both the nominal future value and the real, inflation-adjusted value.

Is Hisaab's SIP calculator free to use?

Yes. The SIP calculator is completely free, with no sign-up, no login and no ads. You can use it as often as you like and share any result with a link.

Can I use this SIP calculator for US investing?

Yes. Switch the country toggle to USD and the calculator uses US defaults: dollar formatting, US federal long-term capital gains rates (0/15/20%), short-term gains at ordinary income rates, and a lower default inflation rate of about 3%.
